古来より人々は植物や微生物などの天然物を健康維持に役立て、生活の一部としてそれらを使用してきました。現在、成分を単離、構造解析する技術が発展し、有効な活性成分は薬や化粧品、機能性食品として応用され、人々の生活に役立てられています。しかし、世界中には活性成分が未知な薬用植物や微生物が未だに数多く存在します。本研究室では、未だに誰も知らない、植物や微生物が作り出す活性分子を発見することを目的として研究を行っています。さらに活性成分や類似体の化学合成、分子生物学を駆使した活性メカニズムの解明、動物を用いた応用実験、データサイエンスなど、様々な角度から最新技術を駆使して活性分子の研究を行っています。具体的な内容はこちらをご覧ください。

Since ancient times, people have used plants and microorganisms to maintain their health and have made them a part of their daily lives. At present, technologies for isolating and structurally analyzing components have been developed, and effective active components are being applied as medicines, cosmetics, and functional foods to benefit people's lives. However, there are still many medicinal plants and microorganisms in the world whose active ingredients are still unknown. In this laboratory, we are conducting research with the aim of discovering active molecules produced by plants and microorganisms that no one knows yet. We are also conducting research on active molecules from various angles, including chemical synthesis of active components and analogues, elucidation of active mechanisms using molecular biology, and application experiments using animals.
